About the Role

We are seeking a visionary VP of Engineering to lead our engineering team and drive the architectural evolution of our platforms. This role focuses on designing scalable, high-performing systems while aligning technical strategies with business goals. You’ll collaborate closely with an in-house DevOps Engineer and cross-functional teams to deliver innovative and reliable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Architectural Leadership: Define and oversee the design of scalable, secure, and high-availability systems that support current and future growth.
• Engineering Strategy: Set the technical roadmap, balancing immediate deliverables with long-term scalability and tech debt management.
• Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing engineering organization, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with DevOps, Product, and Design teams to align engineering priorities with business objectives.
• Technical Governance: Establish best practices for software architecture, API design, system integration, and database management.
• Scalability and Performance: Ensure systems can handle increasing traffic, data, and user demands, with a focus on optimization.

What You’ll Bring

• Proven experience in designing distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• Hands-on understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Track record of growing and managing engineering teams, with a focus on mentorship and career development.
• Experience working with DevOps to implement CI/CD pipelines, observability tools, and automated infrastructure.
• Strong background in backend systems, database architectures (SQL and NoSQL), and API design.

Technical Expertise

The ideal candidate will have a strong command of the following:

• PostgreSQL: Expertise in designing efficient schemas, optimizing queries, and managing relational databases for high-performance applications.  
• Express.js & Node.js: Expertise in building scalable backend services, API integrations, and managing asynchronous processes.
• React.js: Extensive experience in building modern, responsive, and highly interactive front-end applications using React.
• Full-Stack Development: In-depth understanding of how the front end and back end interact, with expertise in integrating systems for optimal performance.

AWS Cloud

• Core AWS Services: Deep experience with services like EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, DynamoDB, and API Gateway.
• Cloud Architecture: Designing secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud solutions.
• Serverless Technologies: Hands-on knowledge of AWS Lambda, Step Functions, and DynamoDB for building event-driven architectures.
• Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency in tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK for managing cloud resources.
• DevOps Collaboration: Strong familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins) and monitoring frameworks (CloudWatch, Prometheus).

System Design and Architecture

• Scalability: Experience building systems that handle high traffic and large-scale data.
• Microservices: Expertise in designing modular and loosely coupled systems.
• Event-Driven Systems: Familiarity with tools like Kafka or RabbitMQ for asynchronous processing.
• APIs and Integration: Designing RESTful and GraphQL APIs for seamless integration across platforms
   

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience scaling systems to support millions of users.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)
• Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2).
