Job Description

About the Role

SMArtX Advisory Solutions is seeking a Vice President of Solutions Consulting to own the technical and business-solution relationship with clients following contract execution.

This role turns a signed agreement into a successful, well-configured implementation—and remains engaged after launch to help clients use the SMArtX platform to solve evolving business and operational challenges.

The position has two primary areas of responsibility:

  • Onboarding and implementation: Translate the agreed scope into a detailed solution design, guide configuration and integration decisions, and ensure that what was sold is successfully delivered.
  • Ongoing client advisory: Serve as the solutions expert for a portfolio of live clients, helping them address workflow, data, integration, and platform-related needs.

This is a senior, hands-on individual contributor role reporting to the SVP of Solutions Consulting. The ideal candidate combines technical fluency, wealth-management industry knowledge, and the ability to build trusted relationships with both business and technology leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Onboarding and Implementation Solution Ownership

  • Translate the agreed scope into a detailed solution design covering platform configuration, integrations, data flows, and workflow decisions.
  • Lead solution-design sessions with client operations, technology, and investment teams.
  • Document business and technical requirements, data mappings, integration specifications, and key implementation decisions.
  • Own solution integrity through go-live, ensuring that the implementation aligns with contractual commitments and client expectations.
  • Identify and escalate scope gaps, risks, and technical dependencies early in the implementation process.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Client Success, and other internal teams to sequence configuration work and resolve implementation dependencies.

Ongoing Client Advisory

  • Serve as the primary technical and solutions advisor for an assigned portfolio of live clients.
  • Conduct working sessions to understand clients’ evolving business needs and identify relevant platform capabilities.
  • Diagnose workflow inefficiencies and recommend configuration, integration, or process improvements.
  • Help clients maximize their use of the SMArtX platform by identifying capabilities they may not yet be using.
  • Guide clients through relevant platform releases, explaining what is changing, why it matters, and how it may affect their business.

Technical Liaison

  • Serve as the connection between client business and technical stakeholders and SMArtX Product, Engineering, Support, and Client Success teams.
  • Communicate credibly about APIs, data feeds, web components, integrations, and platform architecture.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear business language for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Partner with Client Success on complex or escalated issues by providing the technical and solution context needed to accelerate resolution.

Growth and Retention Support

  • Identify potential expansion opportunities during client advisory work and transition them to Sales and Client Success with appropriate context.
  • Bring technical credibility and practical solution options to renewal, retention, and at-risk client conversations.
  • Support the SVP of Solutions Consulting on complex pre-sales opportunities requiring deep platform knowledge, representing approximately 20% of the role.

Documentation and Field Feedback

  • Maintain accurate solution documentation, configuration records, technical requirements, and client-facing reference materials.
  • Capture feature gaps, client requests, and field insights.
  • Organize and communicate client feedback to the SVP of Solutions Consulting and Product teams to support prioritization and platform development.

Qualifications

Required

  • Seven or more years of experience in solutions architecture, implementation consulting, technical account management, or post-sale solutions consulting within a technology or SaaS environment.
  • Demonstrated experience owning client relationships from implementation through ongoing advisory—not simply handing off the relationship at go-live.
  • Working technical knowledge of REST and JSON APIs, including authentication, webhooks, error handling, and integration troubleshooting.
  • Experience with data mapping, file specifications, data flows, and systems-integration concepts.
  • Ability to diagnose a business problem and design an effective solution within an existing platform’s capabilities.
  • Strong written documentation skills, including the ability to create solution designs, requirements, workflow diagrams, data mappings, and technical specifications that others can execute.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent client engagements with competing priorities, complex dependencies, and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, problem-solving, and relationship-management skills.

Preferred

  • Direct experience with wealth-management technology, including UMA/SMA programs, TAMP or managed-account platforms, model marketplaces, portfolio accounting, trading, or rebalancing.
  • Familiarity with custodian ecosystems such as Schwab, Fidelity, and Pershing.
  • Familiarity with advisor technology platforms such as Orion, Envestnet, Addepar, Black Diamond, or Salesforce.
  • Experience supporting RIA, broker-dealer, and enterprise wealth-management clients.
  • SQL or comparable data-querying experience.
  • Experience responding to information-security reviews and vendor due-diligence questionnaires.

Location and Travel

This is a remote position open to candidates located within the United States.

Travel of approximately 20% is expected for client onsite meetings, onboarding kickoffs, business reviews, and other strategic engagements.
