Job Brief:
The Shift Supervisor position oversees that the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Unit are carried out in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines governing a long-term care facility.
Responsibilities:
• Prevents medication errors annually.
• Appropriately utilizes needles and lancets according to facility policy approved by the facility.
• Provides leadership on a daily basis to all nursing team members.
• Counsel team members as needed.
• Processed cottage/apartment calls promptly.
• In an emergency staffing situation, may require holiday or weekend work responsibility. Perform Nursing Management duties on a rotational weekend schedule.
• Assumes the role of the Building Fire/Disaster Chief. Processes maintenance problems via the emergency network.
• Performs other support services and duties as requested by the Director of Nursing, Administrator of the Health Care Center, and/or respective Vice President.
• Participates in on-call rotation.
Skills Required:
• High school graduate or equivalent with the ability to read, write and speak the English language.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse currently licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
• A minimum of two (2) years experience as a staff nurse, preferably in a long-term care facility.
• Supervisory experience is helpful.
• Participates in continuing education.
