Role Purpose

The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in restoring financial discipline, strengthening internal controls, and improving profitability within a growing but financially strained hospitality estate. This is not a routine accounting position. The role requires a commercially minded, firm, and highly ethical professional who can eliminate financial leakages, strengthen reporting systems, improve cost controls, and provide clear financial insights for strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
• Produce weekly performance reports and variance analysis.
• Monitor departmental expenses and enforce budget discipline.
• Identify and eliminate financial leakages and inefficiencies.
• Strengthen internal controls and approval systems.
• Ensure compliance with Malawi tax regulations and statutory requirements.
• Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Monitor cash flow and manage receivables/payables effectively.
• Support operational managers with financial insights and training.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• ACCA, CIMA, or CA qualification (or finalist) preferred.
• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience in hospitality, retail, or service industries desirable.
• Strong knowledge of Malawi tax and regulatory environment.

Starting salary: MK2Million Kwacha /monthly gross
