Position: Algorithms Engineer
Utilidata®, Inc. is a fast-growing energy technology company that is digitizing the grid-edge to unleash the full potential of clean energy. Our industry-leading software solutions create visibility to the edge of the grid and optimize grid operations. We are expanding our diverse team of experts and looking for candidates who are mission-driven, collaborative, and adaptive. 
The algorithms engineer will operate at the nexus of power systems engineering, data science, algorithms, statistics, and creative problem solving. The ideal candidate possesses a mix of skills, thinks critically about problems that do not have straightforward solutions, and has a growth mindset.
Responsibilities
●    Work collaboratively with the algorithms team to enable team success
●    Skillfully evaluate, process, and derive insights from various data sources using statistics, algorithms, machine learning, subject-matter expertise, and critical thinking
●    Conduct background research where applicable
●    Write well-organized code and documentation supporting algorithms/analyses developed
●    Seamlessly transition between solo and collaborative tasks
●    Collaborate with software development team to take algorithms from prototype to production
●    Organize and process customer data
●    Develop scripts to clean, filter, and merge large amounts of data in an efficient manner
●    Build models and hypotheses to understand non-obvious relationships between power measurement quantities
Minimum Qualifications 
●    Experience with algorithms, data processing, statistics, machine learning
●    Ability to process data and present outcomes graphically 
●    Experience with Python, MATLAB, Julia, or R
●    Inquisitive with a desire to learn
Enhanced Qualifications (Nice to Have) 
●    PhD
●    Understanding of the physics, mathematics, and economics governing the operation of the electric power system
●    Experience using electric distribution system simulation tools (e.g., GridLAB-D, OpenDSS) and working with power systems data
●    Experience with ArcGIS
●    Experience with any kind of Distributed Energy Resource project (solar, electric vehicles, batteries etc.)
●    Driven to make an impact in the automation, optimization, and decarbonization of the electric grid
