Title: Senior Accountant, ITREB and Council
Location: National Secretariat office in Sugar Land, Texas, USA
Reports To: Finance Controller
OPPORTUNITY PROFILE:
The Senior Accountant position is tasked with owning and ensuring successful delivery of all assigned finance and accounting functions of ITREB for USA and Council for USA for review and approval by Finance Controller and respective Executive Officer, as necessary. The Senior Accountant will serve as an integral member of the Finance Department and report to the Finance Controller. It is expected that the role will work hand in hand with Institutional staff and volunteers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of work products, including processing and recording of transactions; budgeting; utilization of funds; management reporting; statutory filings; development, implementation and monitoring of policies, procedures, and other internal control mechanisms.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Prepare cash flow of all departments
2. Complete bank reconciliations
3. Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and related internal control mechanisms
4. Prepare all departmental and consolidated financial statements
5. Support Controller with audit preparation by populating audit samples and resolve findings
6. Prepare wire and ACH transactions
7. Process deposits and expenditure payments
8. Maintain accounting system
9. Align & map accounting system class & accounts to ensure effectiveness and alignment with Institutional requirements
10. Review transactions of all departments and liaise with stakeholders to rectify any discrepancies
11. Review and approve payments processed by Accounts Payable staff, as necessary
12. Ensure month-end, Quarter-end, and Year-end closing of financial books
13. Prepare & submit 1099s for Controller’s review
14. Complete ad hoc projects and other deliverables as requested by Institutional Leadership and Finance Controller
15. Work with a “One Team” mind set with other staff and volunteers to successfully deliver the goals of the Finance Department and the Jamati Institutions at large
QUALIFICATIONS:
An ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:
1. A professional degree in accounting or finance, or a recognized accounting designation such as CA or CPA.
2. More than 5 years of relevant experience in financial matters, internal controls, and/ or internal/ external financial reporting.
3. Strengths in strategic thinking as well as operational skills in finance and accounting.
