IT Systems Manager

HOURS: 37 1⁄2 hours per week
LOCATION: Based in Leyland with requirement to work at multiple sites as required.


Role Summary

Alongside, an Informatics Manager and Programme Manager, the successful candidate will be expected to
contribute to designing , delivering and managing the Lancashire and South Cumbria Pathology Service
Information Management Systems


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

 Managing and Configuring Laboratory Information Systems (LIMS)
 Maintaining and upgrading a range of laboratory systems that are critical to the running of Pathology,
including applying patches, working with Service Delivery Managers and other stakeholders to plan
and perform major system upgrades
 Configuration of, monitoring and managing interfaces between Pathology and other systems (Trust
Interface Engine etc.)
 Configuration of, monitoring and managing interfaces between Pathology and laboratory systems
(analysers, middleware, printers etc.)
 Assist and advise with user acceptance testing (UAT) for both new implementations and changes or
upgrades to existing systems.
 Responding to, and resolving incidents in a timely manner, to ensure minimal downtime for pathology
lab processes
 Root cause analysis and proposal of solutions to improve underlying issues
 Advise senior laboratory users on the capabilities of the LIMS, and to assist them in planning service
 Provide training and support to all levels of lab user
 Work with Trust IT departments to ensure trust provided servers and networks provide the platform
and connectivity needed by Pathology
