Markt Ludwig Art Studios, a premier art restoration company based in New York City has expanded to the Dallas area.

Due to our growth we are adding to our team and currently seeking a talented person who is interested in learning restoration and conservation techniques.  The ideal Art Restoration Apprentice candidate will have/be a candidate for a degree in Fine Arts as well as a background in painting and a desire to become an Art Restorer.  This is not a graphic arts position.

We work on a variety of items, including paintings, works on paper, lithographs, sculptures, photographs, taxidermy, collectibles, furniture, and other items of sentimental value.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Catalog and assess items for restoration.
• Disassemble items to be restored.
• Clean and re-assemble artwork.
• Order replacement items such as frames, mats, stretchers, etc.
• Work closely with Art Restorers to provide support and learn the craft.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor or master’s degrees in fine arts or a candidate for such degree
• Understanding in color matching principles
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; positive attitude
• Have framing and matting knowledge.
• Working knowledge of basic PC and Mac operations
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Be ethical, respectful and understanding of our clients’ needs
• Photoshop experience a plus.

Work Components:

• The pay range is $16 to $20 per hour depending on relevant experience. 
• Benefits include flexible hours, vacation and sick time.
• Nine holidays plus two floating holidays.
• The probationary period may last up to three-months.
• Pre-employment drug screen and a criminal background check required.
