Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Scale Clerk to manage the weighing and documentation process for inbound and outbound materials. The Scale Clerk will operate truck scales, maintain accurate records, and communicate professionally with drivers and team members.

This Scale Clerk position includes full on-the-job training to learn metal identification and classification.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Scale Clerk role includes:

• Operate truck scales to accurately weigh incoming and outgoing loads
• Create and maintain weight tickets, receipts, and electronic logs
• Learn to identify and classify various types of metals (training provided)
• Enter data into computer systems accurately and efficiently
• Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and internal team members
• Verify load information and ensure documentation accuracy
• Assist with inventory tracking and report discrepancies
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional scale house
• Perform administrative duties including filing, data entry, and reporting
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures

Required Qualifications

• Willingness and ability to learn metal identification/classification
• Strong computer proficiency and accurate data entry skills
• Good math skills and comfort working with numbers
• Professional communication and customer service skills
• Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Previous experience in a similar role is a plus, but not required
