Saw Operator

·         Pay: $18–$20 per hour

·         Shift: Monday–Thursday, 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Overtime as needed)

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Saw Operator to join our team. This position involves setting up and operating metal-cutting saws, ensuring precision and efficiency while following safety regulations and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in manufacturing or an industrial setting and possess strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities

·         Set up and operate metal-cutting saws (band saws, circular saws, cold saws, etc.) according to job specifications.

·         Adjust feed rates, blade speeds, and cutting angles for optimal performance.

·         Perform cutting tasks efficiently while maintaining accuracy and consistency.

·         Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical drawings to determine cutting dimensions and tolerances.

·         Load, secure, and position metal stock on the saw using clamps or fixtures.

·         Measure and mark materials before cutting to ensure accuracy.

·         Inspect cut pieces using calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and squares.

·         Ensure finished pieces meet required tolerances and quality standards.

·         Identify and report any material defects or machine malfunctions.

·         Perform routine maintenance on saws, including blade changes and cleaning.

·         Follow company safety protocols, wear proper PPE, and maintain a clean and organized work area.

·         Adhere to OSHA and other safety regulations.

Qualifications

·         Minimum two years of saw operating experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

·         Familiarity with different types of saws (horizontal/vertical band saws, etc.).

·         Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings.

·         Proficiency in using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).

·         Knowledge of different metal types and their cutting properties.

·         Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

·         Dependable, with a strong attendance record.

·         Highly detail-oriented and organized with a focus on workplace safety.

·         Strong math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

·         Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions and problem-solve in standardized situations.

·         Willingness to work overtime and shift work as required.

Physical Requirements

·         Occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.

·         Frequent lifting and moving of up to 50 pounds.

·         Vision requirements: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

·         Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and occasional exposure to hot, cold, wet, or humid conditions.

·         Work environment noise level is typically loud.
