Pay: $16–$19/hr

Hours: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday–Friday

About the Role

A growing custom fabrication shop is seeking an experienced Painter’s Helper / Prep Tech with automotive body shop prep experience. This Painter’s Helper / Prep Tech role focuses on preparing vehicles or fabricated parts for paint in a productive and team-oriented environment. The Painter’s Helper / Prep Tech position is ideal for someone skilled in surface prep, detail work, and supporting paint operations.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in a professional paint or body shop
• Ability to use DA sanders, compounds, and paint prep equipment
• Familiarity with AkzoNobel Paint Systems Ultra Low VOC (a plus)
• Experience with spraying Dryvit (a plus)
• Knowledge of custom fabrication projects
• Strong attention to detail and reliability
• Ability to lift and carry up to 150 lbs
• Comfortable with frequent standing, climbing, and working from heights
• Valid driver’s license
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship)

What You’ll Do

The Painter’s Helper / Prep Tech role includes the following duties:

• Clean and prepare surfaces for paint (body filler, taping, masking, sanding, etc.)
• Work closely with lead painter to ensure quality and consistency
• Maintain a consistent workflow and meet assigned deadlines
• Follow directions and contribute to team goals
• Support a positive, safe, and efficient work environment
• Perform physically demanding tasks such as climbing ladders
