Maintenance Technician

• Pay: $26.00 – $30.00 per hour (DOE, includes shift differential)
• Hours: 3rd Shift | 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Overtime as needed)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of boilers, refrigeration systems, and other plant equipment while ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in mechanical, electrical, and industrial refrigeration systems, along with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

·         Install and maintain boilers and refrigeration equipment in compliance with safety and sanitation guidelines.

·         Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues using schematics and visual inspection.

·         Conduct temperature checks using handheld probes to verify system accuracy.

·         Perform daily inspections of refrigeration systems and high- and low-pressure boilers.

·         Manually record readings from daily equipment rounds.

·         Assist with or perform preventative maintenance (PM) using Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and CMMS printouts.

·         Work on special projects as assigned.

·         Ensure compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements, including conducting audits and addressing noncompliance issues.

·         Perform building maintenance and repairs, including refrigeration systems, machinery, equipment, grounds, doors, lighting, and dock locks.

·         Take on all tasks of a Maintenance Technician when needed.

·         Inspect equipment to identify potential issues and perform necessary adjustments or repairs.

·         Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.

·         Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems in processing equipment.

·         Repair machinery by replacing defective parts, motors, and control systems.

·         Work closely with production staff to resolve equipment malfunctions promptly.

·         Assist with the installation, commissioning, and upgrading of new and existing equipment.

·         Ensure all installations and modifications comply with safety and operational standards.

·         Maintain accurate documentation, including work orders and maintenance logs.

·         Prepare reports on equipment performance and maintenance needs.

·         Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

·         Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging technologies.

·         Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

·         High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in a related field preferred.

·         Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including troubleshooting and repair techniques.

·         Experience with industrial refrigeration systems, including ammonia, glycol, and Freon-based components.

·         RETA Level 1 & 2 and Ammonia Operator 1 & 2 certifications preferred (or willingness to obtain).

·         Understanding of PLCs, frequency controls, direct current devices, temperature controls, and transducers.

·         Experience working with:

o    High voltage AC (480V, 220V, 120V)

o    Low control voltage AC (24V, 12V, 5V)

o    Multi-voltage and multi-amp AC/DC systems

·         Knowledge of meat processing, safety, and quality standards.

·         Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

·         Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

·         Understanding of safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment.

·         Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

·         Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English; Spanish proficiency is a plus but not required.
