Refrigeration/Maintenance Technician

• Pay: $26.00 – $30.00 per hour (DOE) + Shift Differential
• Hours: 2nd Shift | 3:00 PM – 12:00 AM (Overtime as needed)

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Refrigeration/Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of boilers, refrigeration equipment, and plant machinery while ensuring compliance with all safety and operational standards. The ideal candidate is highly knowledgeable in mechanical, electrical, and industrial refrigeration systems, with a strong understanding of troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

·         Install and maintain boilers and refrigeration equipment in compliance with safety and sanitation regulations.

·         Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues using schematics and visual inspection.

·         Conduct temperature checks with handheld probes to verify system accuracy.

·         Perform daily inspections of refrigeration systems and high- and low-pressure boilers.

·         Maintain detailed logs of system readings, equipment performance, and maintenance activities.

·         Perform preventative maintenance (PM) using Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and CMMS printouts.

·         Assist with special projects and implement process improvements.

·         Ensure compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements, including conducting audits and addressing non-compliance issues.

·         Conduct preventative maintenance and repairs across the facility, including refrigeration systems, machinery, equipment, doors, lights, dock locks, and grounds.

·         Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in production equipment.

·         Replace defective parts, motors, and control systems as needed.

·         Collaborate with production teams to address and resolve equipment malfunctions promptly.

·         Assist with the installation, commissioning, and upgrading of new and existing equipment.

·         Ensure all installations, modifications, and repairs meet safety and operational standards.

·         Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.

·         Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies.

·         Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

·         High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in a related field preferred.

·         Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance.

·         Strong knowledge of industrial refrigeration systems, including ammonia, glycol, and Freon-based systems.

·         RETA Level 1 & 2 and Ammonia Operator 1 & 2 certifications preferred (or willingness to obtain).

·         Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems, including:

o    High voltage AC (480V, 220V, 120V)

o    Low control voltage AC (24V, 12V, 5V)

o    Multi-voltage and multi-amp AC/DC systems

·         Experience working with PLCs, frequency controls, direct current devices, temperature controls, and transducers.

·         Familiarity with production equipment and processes, particularly in meat processing environments.

·         Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

·         Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

·         Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English; Spanish proficiency is a plus but not required.
