Shift: 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Monday – Friday, with some rotating weekends)

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Helper to join our team in Tulsa, OK. This role involves performing routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs on hospital systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and medical equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience in facility maintenance, a strong technical skill set, and the ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on hospital infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and medical systems.

  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests, such as lighting failures, heating/cooling system malfunctions, elevator breakdowns, water system issues, and other critical equipment failures.

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues to maintain a safe and fully functional facility.

  • Maintain and repair walls, doors, windows, flooring, and ceilings throughout the hospital.

  • Ensure the proper functioning of critical medical equipment, working closely with clinical staff to minimize downtime and disruptions.

  • Assist in maintaining compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission, OSHA).

  • Document all maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and inspections, using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

  • Collaborate with other departments to prioritize and address urgent facility issues efficiently.

  • Maintain an inventory of necessary supplies and materials for repairs and maintenance tasks.

  • Follow all safety protocols and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Assist with facility modifications and renovations as needed.

  • Participate in on-call rotations for emergency repairs outside regular working hours.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager or Supervisor.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or technical certification in a related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance or facilities management, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting.

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, and general building maintenance.

  • Experience with medical equipment maintenance is a plus.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics.

  • Basic understanding of safety regulations and compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Capability to work in confined spaces, on ladders, and at heights.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach as necessary.

Work Environment

  • This position is based in a hospital environment, requiring the individual to work in various hospital departments and patient care areas.

  • Occasional exposure to noise, chemicals, and other hazards; appropriate safety measures and PPE will be provided.
