Forklift Mechanic

Pay: $20-24/hr. DOE
Hours: Monday-Friday 7AM-3:30PM (Some OT on occasion)

Job Description:

The Forklift Mechanic is responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on forklifts to ensure they operate safely and efficiently. This role involves diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, conducting safety inspections, and collaborating with team members to minimize equipment downtime. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude and be committed to maintaining high safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Routine Maintenance: Inspect, clean, and lubricate forklift parts to maintain optimal performance standards.
  • Diagnose & Troubleshoot: Identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Safety Inspections: Conduct regular safety checks to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Repairs & Replacements: Repair or replace damaged or malfunctioning components such as engines, brakes, transmissions, and steering mechanisms.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed logs of all maintenance and repair work, including parts used and labor hours.
  • Performance Testing: Test forklifts after repairs to confirm proper functionality and compliance with safety standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with team members to prioritize and schedule maintenance tasks to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Operator Guidance: Provide training and guidance to operators on proper forklift usage and maintenance procedures.
  • Stay Informed: Keep up to date with industry trends and technological advancements to improve maintenance practices.

Skills Required:

  • Experience in Preventative Maintenance: Familiarity with routine maintenance practices and protocols.
  • Mechanical Knowledge: Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose and repair complex issues efficiently.
  • Diagnostic Proficiency: Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for troubleshooting.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Time Management: Strong time-management skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to lift heavy objects and perform manual labor.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work well in a team environment and follow supervisory instructions.
  • Drug Screen and Background Check: Ability to pass a 10-panel drug screen and background check.
