Extrusion Operator

Pay: $16.00 – $20.00/hr (Depending on Experience)

Position Overview

The Extrusion Operator supports the manufacturing of polyethylene (PE) pipe by assisting with coiling, taping, stacking, packaging, and performing basic quality checks. This Extrusion Operator position is an entry-level manufacturing role with training provided.

The ideal Extrusion Operator is dependable, safety-focused, and capable of maintaining production flow while working with large pipe materials in a manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Install pre-cut gaskets on vacuum and spray tanks as instructed
• Verify proper coiler arm settings for pipe diameters ranging from 28”–60”
• Coil polyethylene pipe neatly and tightly according to specifications
• Tape coils at four points with four wraps for proper securing
• Secure the start and end of each coil using color footage tape
• Plug both ends of each completed pipe coil
• Inspect pipe for proper printing, labeling, and surface quality including scratches, splits, pock marks, or rough ends
• Maintain organized and safe pipe stacks within the production area
• Communicate non-conforming products or operational issues to the Shift Supervisor
• Place defective pipe in the designated regrind area
• Maintain a clean and organized work area from extruder to coiler
• Return tools and supplies at the end of each shift
• Participate in shift change communication to maintain production continuity

Training Provided

• General safety and housekeeping standards
• Defect identification and reporting procedures
• PE pipe coiling and unloading procedures
• Gasket installation and basic extrusion equipment operation

Protective Equipment (PPE)

• Steel or composite-toe safety footwear required in production and warehouse areas
• Safety glasses required and provided
• Additional PPE required depending on specific tasks and production activities
