Pay: $16–$20/hour (DOE)
Shift Differential: Additional pay for 2nd, 3rd, and weekend shifts

Position Overview

The Extruder Operator I is an entry-level role responsible for supporting the manufacturing of polyethylene (PE) pipe. The Extruder Operator will assist with coiling, taping, stacking, packaging, and performing basic quality checks while maintaining a clean and safe production environment. Training is provided.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Install pre-cut gaskets on vacuum and spray tanks as instructed
• Verify proper coiler arm settings (28”–60” inside diameter)
• Coil pipe neatly and according to specifications
  • Tape coils at 4 points with 4 wraps
  • Secure start and end of coil with 2 wraps of color footage tape
  • Plug both ends of every coil
• Inspect pipe for:
  • Proper printing and labeling
  • Quality defects (splits, pock marks, scratches, rough ends, striping)
• Maintain safe and organized pipe stacks
• Communicate non-conforming product issues to the Shift Supervisor
• Place defective pipe in the regrind area properly
• Keep the area from extruder to coiler clean and organized
• Participate in shift change communication

Training Provided

• General Safety and Housekeeping Standards
• Basic defect identification and escalation procedures
• PE Pipe Coiling and Unloading Procedures
• Gasket installation and basic extrusion equipment operation

Requirements

• Reliable transportation required
• Ability to work in a production/manufacturing environment
• Strong attention to detail and safety

Required PPE

• Steel or composite-toe safety footwear (required at all times)
• Safety glasses (provided)
• Additional PPE as required for specific tasks
