Job Description:

Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Estimator to join the team at a local glass company. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for various glass projects, including commercial and residential installations. This role requires a strong understanding of glass materials, industry standards, and the ability to analyze project requirements to determine the most efficient and cost-effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Review project specifications, drawings, and blueprints to assess scope and requirements.

Collaborate with clients, architects, and project managers to understand project goals and objectives.

Prepare detailed cost estimates by calculating labor, materials, and time requirements for each project.

Conduct site visits as necessary to gather information and verify project details.

Analyze material costs, labor rates, and subcontractor bids to develop comprehensive project budgets.

Track and update cost databases to ensure estimates reflect current market pricing.

Identify potential risks and cost-saving opportunities in each project estimate.

Communicate effectively with sales and production teams to ensure accurate and achievable project proposals.

Assist in the preparation of bids, proposals, and contracts for potential clients.

Maintain accurate records of estimates, contracts, and related documentation for each project.

Qualifications:

Proven experience as an Estimator, ideally within the glass, construction, or glazing industry.

Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.

Proficiency in reading blueprints and construction documents.

Knowledge of estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam) and MS Office Suite.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.

Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for site visits as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with glass industry standards, materials, and installation techniques.

Experience in commercial and residential glass projects, including storefronts, windows, doors, and curtain walls.

Working Conditions:

Primarily office-based with occasional site visits as required.
