Position: Distribution Associate / Forklift Operator

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Forklift Operator to join our Raw Materials and Distribution (RMD) team. This position is responsible for staging, loading, and unloading finished products and raw materials, maintaining warehouse inventory, receiving and shipping goods, and ensuring seamless movement of freight between the plant and warehouse storage. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and experience operating various types of forklifts.

Key Responsibilities

Material Handling & Warehouse Operations

  • Load finished products onto trucks and containers.
  • Unload raw materials from trucks, railcars, or containers and move them to warehouse storage.
  • Operate forklifts, roll clamps, and box clamps for loading and unloading tasks.
  • Stage finished products for loading and shipping.
  • Move waste materials from the assembly line to designated dumpsters.
  • Maintain quality control of incoming and outgoing products.

Shipping & Inventory Management

  • Package finished products using shrink wrapping, boxing, and labeling.
  • Complete paperwork for outbound shipments.
  • Lock and unlock trailers at distribution doors for loading/unloading.
  • Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) to ship and receive products.

Equipment & Safety Compliance

  • Conduct pre-operation equipment inspections using PIT checklists.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain warehouse efficiency.
  • Ensure work areas remain clean and organized to promote a safe environment.
  • Maintain warehouse locations, including barcode replacements and line repainting.
  • Lock out and shut down equipment when not in use for safety compliance.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Communicate with operators from other shifts for smooth transitions.
  • Work closely with distribution and production teams to support workflow.

Key Working Relationships

  • Internal: Distribution Department, Production Department
  • External: Outside carriers

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of forklift operation experience, preferably in a warehouse environment.
  • Experience using handheld scanners for shipping and receiving orders.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and basic mathematical calculations.
  • Understanding of distribution methods and procedures for shipping and receiving products.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members, vendors, and external carriers.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work in a dusty environment with noise levels up to 90 dB (proper PPE required).
  • Must be flexible and responsive to business and department needs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Must be able to work 12-hour shifts.
  • Ability to sit, bend, stand, and walk throughout the shift.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening (position is case-sensitive).
  • Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
