About the Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Controller to serve as a strategic financial partner to Project Managers and operational leadership. This role oversees project accounting, IFRS compliance, cost analysis, forecasting, and financial governance, ensuring projects meet profitability goals and adhere to financial standards. The ideal candidate will proactively identify risks, improve margins, and drive continuous improvement across project financial operations.
Controller Key Responsibilities
Financial Partnership
Serve as the primary financial advisor to Project Managers
Provide data-driven financial insights to support decision-making
Project Accounting & Reporting
Manage revenue and cost recognition using Percentage of Completion (POC) accounting per IFRS
Produce accurate forecasts, budgets, financial statements, and variance analyses
Monitor and report project health and key performance indicators
Risk & Cost Management
Identify financial risks and propose mitigation strategies
Perform detailed cost and margin analysis to improve profitability
CAPEX & Budget Control
Oversee all project-related CAPEX activities
Ensure budget adherence and flag variances proactively
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Finance, Operations, and PM teams for financial transparency
Support improvements in financial processes, controls, and forecasting
Controller Required Skills & Competencies
Strong financial and accounting knowledge, including project accounting and forecasting
Advanced analytical ability and financial modeling expertise
Excellent communication and presentation skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
Proficiency in Excel, ERP systems, and project accounting tools
Controller Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
CPA, ACCA, or CIMA preferred
Minimum 8 years of experience in project controlling, financial analysis, or accounting
Experience in engineering, construction, or manufacturing strongly preferred
Strong understanding of IFRS and POC accounting
CAPEX management experience
Proven success partnering with Project Managers or operations leadership
