Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Class A Fitter Welder to join a manufacturing team in Collinsville. The Class A Fittter Welder will perform advanced welding and fitting tasks while following ASME code standards to produce high-quality fabricated components.

This Class A Fitter Welder position requires strong knowledge of multiple welding processes, the ability to read engineering drawings, and the skill to work in a production fabrication environment.

Weld Test Requirements

Candidates must pass the following tests:

• 3G plate weld using MIG and Flux Core
• 6G TIG weld on 2½" pipe to ASME code standards

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Class A Fitter Welder role includes:

• Prepare parts and tools for welding and fit-up activities
• Perform welding using FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW processes
• Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions
• Follow ASME code requirements for all applicable welding tasks
• Distinguish between weld types including fillet welds, J-groove welds, and back gouging
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and work orders
• Operate and maintain welding equipment and fabrication tools
• Use powered and manual hand tools during welding and assembly
• Set up ladders, scaffolding, and temporary equipment when required
• Work effectively within a team environment while following safety procedures

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of fitting and welding experience in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to pass required weld tests
• Ability to read and interpret tape measurements accurately
• Strong knowledge of welding processes and fabrication practices
• Commitment to workplace safety and proper PPE usage
