Job Description:
Operates electrostatic painting equipment to spray negatively charged paint particles onto positively charged work pieces in order to paint parts for cranes, winches, or truck bodies by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities – includes the following, but others may be assigned
Moves switches and dials to start flow current, and to activate conveyor and paint spraying equipment. Turns valves and observes gauges to set pressure and to control flow of paint to each spray station. Sets up and troubleshoots paint equipment. Monitors manometers to ensure paint filters are clean enough to operate properly; changes filters when manometer indicates. Maintains paint equipment to ensure that it is functioning properly. Inspects painted unites for runs, sags, and unpainted areas to ensure that painted areas match quality specifications. Readjusts pressure valves to control direction and pattern of spray and to correct flaws in coating. Cleans paint from ceiling and walls of booth, conveyor hooks or grid, and from disks, cones, spray heads, and hoses as needed. Hand sprays parts to cover unpainted areas or apply rust preventative. Mixes paint according to specifications with viscometer to regulate consistency according to changes in atmospheric conditions. Performs all quality control tests as required. Conducts all activities in a safe manner following company safety policies and MSDS requirements. Employee is responsible for making sure all product has proper identification prior to moving between processes and including to or from the warehouse storage area. Product must include one kanban card, placard with part number noting product etc. All material needs to have proper identification, no exceptions.
Education and Experience - One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must pass coatings test per standard work instructions and quality standards.
