Position: Project Manager - Food Safety
Location: Kolkata
Reports To: Manager – Central Audit Desk
Direct Reports: 1-2 Junior Food Safety Implementers

Position Overview: The Project Manager - Food Safety is responsible for overseeing and managing the implementation of food safety standards at client sites. This role requires a thorough understanding of food safety regulations and standards, project management skills, and the ability to lead a team of junior implementers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management:
    • Plan, coordinate, and oversee the implementation of food safety standards (BRC, FSSC, ISO 22000, etc.) at various client sites.
    • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets.
    • Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
    • Submit various reports as required by the management daily.
  • Client Engagement:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing their needs and concerns.
    • Conduct regular meetings with clients to review project progress and ensure satisfaction.
    • Provide expert advice on food safety standards and best practices.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Supervise and mentor junior food safety implementers.
    • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to team members.
    • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance:
    • Conduct audits and assessments to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
    • Identify areas for improvement and develop action plans to address non-conformities.
    • Ensure all documentation and records are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Training and Development:
    • Develop and deliver training programs for clients and team members on food safety standards and practices.
    • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in food safety.
  • Reporting:
    • Prepare and present detailed reports on project status, compliance findings, and corrective actions.
    • Maintain clear and effective communication with senior management and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in food safety management and implementation.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety standards such as BRC, FSSC, ISO 22000, etc.
  • Proven experience in project management, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Internal Auditor (BRC/ FSSC)
  • Experience working in a Quality Assurance environment.
  • Experience in handling Food Safety Audits by Certification Bodies or Buyers.
  • Additional certifications in food safety (HACCP, SQF, etc.)

Working Conditions:

  • This position may require travel to client sites.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed to meet project deadlines.
