Job Descriptions:
Positions and locations vary based on availability. Currently we have some full-time missionary salary openings near Osaka and/or Nagano. Teaching positions at Christian English Schools in Japan offer a minimal salary, sometimes reaching the maximum allowed under local immigration regulations for the "religious activities" work visa category. While this may be modest, it aligns with the living standards for both nationals and expatriates in this work category, usually under $1000 and/or housing provided.
Depending on the school, Preschool and "After School" English learning systems may adopt both an immersive and kinaesthetic approach, incorporating hands-on and activity-based methods, or even implementing a Montessori program. The focus is on teaching morals directly correlated to the Bible, particularly with preschoolers. Work involving slightly older children has less emphasis on biblical teachings, making the preschooler positions more suitable for those seeking a stronger focus in biblical ministries.
For family and group ministry and helping others to embrace an Agape lifestyle, English Homestays offer a natural avenue for sharing truth organically. Similar to offering grace before meals or expressing praise and thanksgiving throughout the day, these practices seamlessly integrate into any homestay experience. Learning language during homestays extends to understanding one's culture, creating a mutually beneficial situation for sharing what is true to your heart. When done naturally, it is not only non-offensive but also intriguingly valuable to most Homestay students. People are genuinely interested in the kind of generosity and kindness rooted in Agape, further proof of a loving God who desires the best for them. Who doesn’t want more love and goodness in their lives?
While the Bible is gaining popularity in East Asia, it seems to be facing increased notoriety in the West. However, Japan appears open to a potential floodgate, a tsunami of Love so to speak, reminiscent of the transformation witnessed in Korea in the past century. South Korea transitioned from being over 70% Buddhist to nearly 60% Christian in the 20th century. We are optimistic about such positive developments on the horizon for Japan and have ambitious visions, also in rural areas away from big cities. English Homestays can serve as a catalyst for rural ministry, sowing seeds of benefit and hope both spiritually and financially. Currently, we are seeking volunteers and investors interested in managing or owning countryside inns and teaching facilities surrounded by abundant nature, beautiful hot springs, and more.
For individuals under 20 and those seeking experience, beginning with online teaching, even if initially unpaid, Online English to Japan offers a safe and valuable path to grasp insights into Japan, the Japanese language, and effective English teaching methods for Japanese learners. These experiences help in becoming a better English and Bible teacher before venturing into the Far East. We encourage NES teachers to aim towards eventually becoming English and Bible Teachers in Japan once their skills are refined.
As we set plans in motion, assistance is needed in various digital aspects and planning. If you have expertise in front end, back end, SMM, SMS, or other content and marketing skills and aspire to be an English teacher as a missionary or run your own homestay, please let us know how you hope to assist us in ministry.
Reflect on which of the seven categories interests you most and why. Share how God is guiding you and why you are drawn to East Asia, particularly Japan.

On a final note, it's important to be transparent about our unique situation to avoid any feelings of discontent or misunderstanding. Some may find it surprising that our preschools incorporate more scripture and evangelism compared to our Eikaiwas (English Schools). While there is a reason for this, and we're happy to discuss it in person, as it is important for us to mention this in advance. Additionally, our missionary teachers in Japan do not receive substantial salaries, anything exceeding the national emolument standards for a Religious Activities work as that can also pose visa challenges. If individuals are seeking higher income opportunities, they may need to explore positions with secular employers offering an alternative type of work visa. We refer to our positions as internship opportunities because missionaries fulfill a specific purpose beyond financial compensation and the get much experience, social rewards, and/or spiritual satisfaction in return. Working in our network is a privilege, aligned with a unique calling and purpose. After completing more than three years by the end of March, individuals will have the chance to receive a promotion (if not already recieved) and/or explore other opportunities. Many of our workers choose to remain within the scope of our network for many more years and, for some, until they decide to return to their home country.
