Job Brief:
Trapp & Geller is a plaintiff’s injury law firm in the Chicago Loop. For more than 35 years, Trapp & Geller has been standing up for the rights of injured Chicagoans and their families.  This small but mighty practice handles all facets of personal injury law from construction and motor vehicle acidents to medical malpractice and wrongful death.  The firm currently seeks a Litigation Support Asistant to provide pre-litigation and some trial support for the firm's attorneys.  This position requires your presence in their in Chicago loop offices.  This is a great opportunity for a detail oriented, organized and hard working multi-tasker to learn and grow in a small firm that values the contributions of every member of the team.  

Responsibilities:

  • Support attorney in managing pre-litigation processes and documentation for active caseload; will typically touch 20-30 cases on a weekly basis
  • Order, organize and develop chronologies for medical treatment/records/expenses
  • Support attorney in preparing and taking depositions or other pre-trial hearings.
  • Develop case chronologies and organize/manage all pre and trial preparation materials and docuements.
  • Product settlement statements, pleadings, Obtain and organize client medical records and bills
  • Draft routine pleadings, motions and correspondence at direction of the attorney
  • Draft standard complaints, responses and discovery requests
  • Submit court filings as requested
  • Coordinate with OPC/Vendors/Court: send pleadings, set up depositions, coordinate site visits with experts, etc.
  • Will be mentored to take on increasing levels of responsibility over time
  • Aid the team when and as needed to deliver for clients

Skills Required:

  • Undergraduate degree and some litigation support experience desired
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask  
  • A self-starter who is proactive and can manage her own workload 
  • Deadline and detail-oriented
  • Outstanding listening and communication skills
  • Desire to learn and grow; confidence to try new assignments with advice/guidance
  • Collaborative, positive attitude, and willing to pitch in where needed
  • Tech savvy; an expert user of standadrd office tools including word, excel, calendaring, document management and case management systems

The firm offer competitive pay packages that includes profit sharing and health insurance, as well as PTO. The position is onsite during normal business hours, M-F.
