Job Description

This position is responsible for assisting in the daily functions of the HR department for the Kingspan Light & Air Lake Forest, IL site.  This position reports into the VP of Human Resources. This position will work closely with the other members of the Human Resources team and will assist in helping employees at other locations when needed. 

 

Job Responsibilities:
 

  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.

  • Increase employee satisfaction by proactively managing HR functions, resolving issues quickly, and processing benefits.

  • Complete employee onboarding, including eligibility verifications.

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for 3 sites, total of 300 employees.

  • Run Lake Forest new hire orientation.

  • Handle employment-related questions from candidates, employees, and managers, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

  • Accurately maintain employee files and records in electronic form and paper form when needed.

  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.  Partnering with outside legal counsel when needed.

  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.

  • Organizes and facilitiates employee recognition events such as employee lunches and holiday recognition.

  • Stays up to date with trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Vice President, Human Resources

 

Necessary Skills And Attributes:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience

  • Bilingual in Spanish required

  • Union experience preferred

  • Minimum 3 years experience in HR

  • SHRM/HRCI Certification a plus

  • Solid communication skills – both verbal & written

  • Acts with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality and develops trust with employees.

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills

  • Ability to address employee requests in a timely and efficient manner

  • Self-disciplined and motivated

  • Effective time management skills
