Job Brief:
Growing law firm seeks part-time assistant for administrative and legal tasks. The firm primarily represents family law clients in premarital agreements, custody disputes, and divorce cases as well as family law mediation and estate planning. The primary core value of the firm is integrity and the ideal candidate will strive to maintain integrity in all aspects of work. The firm is currently one attorney who works out of her home in the Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago.
This is a currently a remote position for a remote-based company. It will begin at four (4) hours per week with the hours to be determined by the employee so long as at least one hour per week is at a time when the Managing Attorney is available. The ideal candidate will be able to occasionally run errands (mostly to ship or mail) or attend in-person meetings in the Chicago (likely only about 5 times per year). This position will be integral to growing the firm and will have the opportunity to provide input in the future of the firm.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Reviewing content of invoices
Creating invoices
Issuing invoices
Sending payment links
Customer service
Shipping at USPS
Purchasing supplies
Following up on outstanding invoices
Entering expenses
Bookkeeping including reconciling bank statements
Communicating with vendors to facilitate firm objectives
Strong grammar and proofreading skills
Delivering documents for shipping and possibly to local courts
Legal Responsibilities:
Editing forms
Drafting intake forms
Drafting template documents
Drafting pleadings (notices, motions, petitions, answers, responses)
Organizing case documents (creating pdfs of parties’ documents with bookmarks)
Drafting discovery requests and responses
Electronic court filing
