Position Agreement – Studio Assistant

 POSITION SUMMARY

The Studio Assistant, reporting to the Office Manager, provides support to the Design Principal, design team and other staff as needed. This role participates with designers in active projects as well as assists with the day-to-day functions of the office.  This is a learning opportunity for those in the early stages of their design studies or career and can be a growth opportunity for the right individual.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Design

  • Maintain design library
  • Return fabric and finish samples to showrooms as needed
  • Obtaining estimates and quotations from vendors on various products
  • Provide assistance at project installations and accessory staging
  • Assist with fabric and product sourcing, as well as creation of and revisions to mood and image boards
  • Assist the design team in all related project tasks as needed

 

Studio

  • Keep office supplies and snacks ordered and stocked
  • Procure gifts and services for special events and relationship building
  • Assist in day-to-day maintenance of the office
  • Support the Principal in personal and professional tasks and errands
  • Daily time tracking and entry into Studio Designer
  • Expense and receipt tracking
  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preferably a student who is in the senior year of study, with impending graduation, or one who has recently graduated, or someone that is generally interested in starting a career in interior design
  • Interest or familiarity with fabrics and finish materials
  • Must be professional, reliable and able to take direction well
  • Strong organizational skills with careful attention to detail
  • Ability to work within a team and proactively create harmonious and professional relationships
  • Knowledge of Mac applications, Google Workspace, and Office 365
  •  Knowledge of AutoCAD, Photoshop and other design related software a plus
  • Must have, or have access to a reliable vehicle during work hours. This is non-negotiable.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must be a self-starter, organized, accurate and consistent in all paperwork and data management
  • Strong creative problem-solving abilities, organizational and time management skills
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Knowledge of and/or ability to learn Studio Designer quickly
  • Ability to interact with peers, management, and other staff in a professional manner
  • Ability to work within a team and proactively create harmonious and professional relationships
  • Willingness to observe company policies, procedures, and the instructions of management

 

Location: East Bay (near Bay Bridge)

Hours: Full-time M-F 9am-5pm
