Tooling Engineer

Growing Manufacturing firm in the Ft Wayne, Indiana area has a need for a Tooling/Plastics Engineer. This is a direct hire role with a full benefits package than can be done remotely.

  • Work together with other engineers, process techs, tool makers and quality techs.
  • Manage details of new projects including customer communication.
  • Perform both part and tooling design work.
  • Troubleshoot molding issues and suggest tooling or process changes.
  • Manage project schedules. Communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Interface with sales staff and customers to promote product development.
  • Respond to tooling and part RFQ’s in partnership with sales staff.
  • Review customers’ part designs for feasibility and work with customers on design for manufacturing.
  • Provide material expertise and offer recommendations internally and to customers.
  • Oversee and participate in R & D projects.
  • Ensure strong internal quality compliance.
  • Provide manufacturing support.
  • Create and foster a culture of continuous improvement and maximum efficiency.
  • Travel as necessary to work with customers, attend trade shows and trainings, and see products in application.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics & Polymers Engineering, or Related Field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in plastic injection molding manufacturing and tooling design.
  • Experience in design for manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of plastic and polymer materials.
  • Strong experience with SolidWorks design software.
  • Familiarity with quality systems, i.e. ISO, PPAPs, FMEA.
