Growing Boston based Mfg Co has a need for a Purchasing Manager. This is a direct hire opening with a full benefits package.
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for supporting present and future business growth through the development and implementation of sourcing strategies for a Boston food manufacturing business.
Specific responsibilities include: • Execute industry-specific strategic sourcing processes and track and manage results, driving cost savings and improvements in a seasonal business • Ensure that highest quality of the products is maintained; partner with Quality Assurance Team to perform and follow up on annual site audits • Manage RFP / 3 Bid process management; negotiate with potential, new and existing suppliers • Forge strong partnerships with Finance for projects/evaluations, value chain analysis; work closely with Quality Assurance and sales • Collect and analyze procurement data to aid in decision making and forecast demand. Track data in Navision software. • Manage vendor relationships, track and communicate vendor performance internally, provide feedback to vendors and develop corrective action plans with vendors • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal business partners and key suppliers • Support new product launches • Accountable for value added, cost savings, and other performance metrics Key qualifications include: •
5+ years of professional experience in Purchasing, ideally with annual spend that exceeds $10MM • Will consider relevant experience in food industry finance, production, operations • Bachelor’s degree in business or relevant area a plus • Demonstrated strategic buying and negotiation skills with strong decision-making ability • Demonstrable financial, product and vendor analysis skills with the ability to define and communicate needs and challenges; experience collaborating with sales team • Proven ability to manage a significant number of materials, especially during peak periods • Business management software experience required; strong Word and Excel skills; data savvy; analytical • Excellent communication, influencing and collaboration skills that create win-win solutions in a manufacturing environment; experience working with non-English speakers
