Growing Food Manufacturing firm in Boston has a need for a Production Manager. This is a direct hire role with a full benefits package.
The Production Manager directs, coordinates, and manages production activities at the Production Facility. Coordinates the manufacturing of refrigerated food products on a daily basis through single shift daily scheduling. Hands-on management of direct and non-direct reports of approximately 70, many non-English speakers. Teams with Human Resources and Quality Assurance to train, develop compensate and measure employees. Performs pre-op on all aspects of manufacturing building. Position also requires but it not limited to: • Maintain and share thorough knowledge of the production lines including associated equipment and related jobs; train supervisors accordingly • Understand and optimize labor distribution; maintain and manage weekly staffing levels and schedule efficiently • Constant contact with supervisors to discuss solutions to possible conflicts or challenges • License and train employees on machinery • Responsible for starting high pressure boiler system • Contribute to Navision database upgrade team; support Navision in all facets of Production to maximize data collection; analyze reports for planning purposes • Recommend new equipment and processes to achieve increased cost-effective efficiencies. • Ensure proper implementation, training and adherence to established procedures to ensure employee safety • Manages Sanitation Team through direct report • Champion quality assurance and food safety to achieve goals in support of year-round SQF readiness • Support team during extremely busy production operation times
REQUIREMENTS • High school diploma required • 3 years of experience in food manufacturing required; only applicants with food manufacturing management experience will be considered • Good communicator in English; knowledge of Portuguese a plus • 3 years of experience supervising exempt and non-exempt employees in a variable hour environment required • Analytical; problem solver; positive can-do approach to challenges • Respectful to others; easy to get along with; works well with all levels of employees • Basic PC skills are required; word processing and spreadsheets; ability to prepare production reports and track data in business database; prepare weekly reports for management meetings • Ability to start early and prepare for daily needs
