OPPORTUNITY PROFILE:

Jubilee Monuments Corporation (JMC), a nonprofit (501c3) organization that supports the academic, intellectual, religious, social, and physical development of Ismaili youth living in the United States, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional for the role of Senior Manager.  The Senior Manager will report to the JMC Board of Directors and will be responsible for the overall management of the organization.  Through managing and working with a wide range of volunteers, the Senior Manager will perform the functions and accomplish the objectives outlined below.

 

Professional Experience & Academic Credentials

The ideal candidate will have 5 or more years of professional experience in a corporation, non-profit organization, or in the public sector with a proven track record of management and leadership experience, though exceptional candidates with fewer years of experience will be considered.  Individuals with a background in youth development or experience in the field of education will receive special consideration. Jamati institutional experience is highly preferred. The role requires a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university though those with a Master's degree in education, social work, non-profit management, public administration, or business administration are strongly preferred.

 

Responsibilities

Through managing and working with a wide range of volunteers, the Senior Manager will perform the functions and accomplish the objectives outlined below.  Essential duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

 

People Management, Program Implementation, & Operations

●        Manage National Project Managers, Program Associate(s), and consultants and any other volunteers or professionals responsible for planning and implementing JMC programs and leads of areas such as curriculum development, training, and impact assessment and evaluations.

●        Must be able to travel extensively during the Spring and Summer months and be present at the major JMC residential programs.

●        Develop timelines and project plans for the year and execute on these plans to ensure timely and effective implementation of JMC trainings and programs.

●        Manage volunteers responsible for developing implementation guides, templates, forms, checklists, etc. that would assist the program implementation teams.

●        Manage volunteers responsible for develop, implementing, and continuously refining the marketing of JMC programs to potential staff, participants, and parents.

 

Partnerships & Stakeholder Management

●     Report to the JMC Board of Directors and work closely with individual Board members on curriculum development; program development; program implementation; legal matters; safety; and risk management; financial management, and so on.

●     Work closely with Local Council Presidents, Aga Khan Youth & Sports Board Chairs, and other institutions in various aspects of the planning and implementation of JMC programs.

 

 

Curriculum

●     Lead the development of curriculum that addresses ongoing Ismaili youth needs, reflects best practices in education and youth development, and ensure that it is aligned with guidance received on what institutions should address with Ismaili youth.

●     Recruit and manage curriculum design volunteers to develop curriculum for the variety of JMC programs, including, but not limited to: Camp Mosaic, Al Ummah, and other programs as directed.

●     On an ongoing basis, research best practices in curriculum in the wider society, determine the relevance of that curriculum to the needs of Ismaili youth, and oversee the customization of content for JMC programs; or engage and oversee volunteers to do this.

●     Develop processes to ensure that the curriculum at each program is implemented with fidelity, processes to observe the quality of implementation and of the curriculum itself, and systems to refine and update curriculum annually.

 

Human Capital Development & Training

●     Oversee the ongoing development of staff trainings for JMC programs.  Ensure that trainings not only build skills and equip volunteers with the knowledge that they need to efficiently and effectively deliver JMC programs, but also that trainings nurture an understanding of the broader values which JMC programs aspire to promote and the nuances of serving within a values-base, volunteer-driven institution.

●     Identify and implement strategies for recruiting a broad range of volunteers and developing their skills to serve in JMC programs.  Build capacity in key areas such as camp scholars.

●     Ensure that the National Project teams of the various JMC programs are staffed and that there is succession planning and a pipeline to seamlessly staff these roles for future years.

 

Risk Management & Safety

●  Ensure that JMC camps have policies, procedures, practices, operating manuals, and appropriate registrations so that JMC camps are implemented in a manner that is compliant with regulation and best industry practice for safety and security.

●  Consult with relevant experts to ensure that JMC programs have a comprehensive risk management strategy and policies. Ensure that trainings are designed to train stakeholders at every level on the risk management protocols.  Ensure that there are checklists and other tools to operationalize the risk management practices.

●  Work with JMC’s legal advisors to review and negotiate contracts.

●  Research state requirements, industry and American Camping Association best practices and standards, and insurance requirements and ensure that these requirements are complied with, including requirements for sexual abuse and harassment trainings, mandatory reporter trainings and reporting, and background checks, among others.

 

Strategic Planning

●     Make recommendations to and collaborate with the JMC Board in ongoing assessment of the extent to which JMC programs are optimizing reach.  Review demographic data and trends to see what sort of access is currently being accomplished across which age groups and propose strategies for scaling up and expanding programs to better serve the need.  This might include priority areas such as the development and piloting of camps for Middle School students. Map existing JMC programs and other youth camps to determine where there are gaps in programming and where there is duplication in programming.

●     Ba a stakeholder, alongside members of Board, to develop an ongoing understanding of at-risk youth and help develop strategies to recruit these youth to participate in various JMC programs and meet their needs at these programs.

 

Impact Assessment & Evaluations

●  In collaboration with JMC Board and other partners, identify long term goals for JMC programs and develop the metrics that will be used to measure progress towards and achievement of goals.

●  Working with JMC volunteers and other institutional stakeholders, develop evaluation tools to develop short term and long term impact of JMC programs and develop the processes by which these tools will be administered.

 

Financial Management & Fiduciary Responsibility

●     Work with key volunteers and stakeholders to compile annual budgets for JMC programs for submission to the JMC Board. Identify cost effective approaches for implementation, and strategies to ensure the financial sustainability of JMC programs and strategies for reducing the reliance of JMC budgets on donations.

●     Liaise with the JMC accountant to ensure that JMC tax filings are completed and submitted in a timely fashion.

●     In collaboration with volunteers, if needed, create financial systems that ensure the efficient and secure collection of funds from participants in a manner that is consistent with industry best practice. Create systems and processes to ensure that expenditures are made in a manner that is consistent with budgets and that supporting documentation satisfies best practice.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

●     Strong leadership skills and experience managing people

●     Strong project management (including project planning) and administration skills, including strong attention to detail and follow through skills.

●     Strong verbal and written communication skills

●     Ability to work with a very wide range of stakeholders including institutional leaders, young volunteers, parents, and scholars.

●     Sound judgment, maturity, and problem solving skills.

●     Experience working with a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization is a plus.

●     Proactive and detailed thinker, particularly with respect to risk management

●     Familiarity with the institutional structure of various stakeholders

●     Budgeting, accounting, and financial resource development and management skills, or the capacity to develop them is a plus
