Job Brief:
- Minimum of BSc or BTech 1stclass or second class upper in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry or Applied Chemistry
- MSc degree in Analytical/ Environmental
- Training Certificate in relevant Quality and Technical field
- Training course on ISO 17025:2017 standard requirements
- 3 – 5 years’ experience in environmental lab or manufacturing company as Quality Assurance / Quality Control
- Job holders in this position must have a strong work ethic, be honest, dependable and responsible
- He or she must have proficient usage knowledge of laboratory equipment (AAS, GC, GC-Mass Spectrometer and all other equipment)
Responsibilities:
Sample Receiving
- Monitor and analyze samples or finished products received by the SRO to be analyzed
- Ensure the samples and products are labelled, check the expiration date, batch no
- Ensure all samples are coded, batched and well stored in the right place.
- Identify required parameters to be analyzed, separatesamples that requires microbialanalysisin order to avoid contamination.
- Ensuring proper handling of product samples.
Quality Control and Policy Enforcement
- Design, monitoring and implementation of quality management system.
- Ensure the awareness of the laboratory staff for the ISO 17025:2017 standard requirements
- Ensure Lab analyst’s strict adherence to the quality standards of Jawura Environmental Services Limited as well ensurequality standards of various regulatory bodies are being metin all the Labs.
- Organize the management reviews of the management system.
- Planning, conducting, reporting and close-out for cause/directed audits
- Preparation of sites and hosting of auditors for regulatory/accreditation inspections
- Analyze the customer service feedback.
- Responsible for quality control change management to ensure that changes and the current status of quality systems related components including documents are identified and corrected
- Responsible for quality assurance in handling of scientific misconduct/fraud
- Responsible for drafting and implementation of the company’s quality policy and quality management plan
- Ensure constant availability of standards for all analysis done by Jawura.
- Plan, organize and conducting internal quality management audit
- Ensure continual quality improvement initiatives (adoption of industry best practices: determination, development, implementation and monitoring of key performance indicators; and internal and external benchmarking) are identified, implemented and monitored
Lab Maintenance
- Implement maintenance & calibration programs
- Ensure the records of the laboratory environmental conditions are maintained.
- Ensure there is periodic calibration of lab equipment and apparatu
- Ensure the weighing scales are in good state and gives accurate measurement
- Supervise the intermediate calibration check programs for the laboratory equipment.
- Ensure prepared reagents are not kept for more than one to two weeks maximum before use.
- Ensure that any identified mistakes are corrected and gaps closed
- Report generation for observations, corrections made and gaps closed
Supervision and Training
- Performing supervisory role to the lab analystson matters related to quality management
- Initiate and establish new work instructions where appropriate
- Implement appropriate periodical checks on the laboratory personnel
- Supervise the internal quality control programs for the laboratory test results
- Identifies deviations/maintains the management system and ensure that it's implemented inside the laboratory
- management systems, regulations in force and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure that job instructions, guidelines, forms, templates, logs, tabs, and labelsare determined, developed and implemented.
- Responsible for making sure that other employees are producing quality services in line with Jawura quality objectives and policies.
- Reporting all issues of quality management deficiency or quality management policy violation to the management
- Planning, organizing and implementation of quality management trainings:
- Training for new staff induction, ongoing quality awareness training including training in applicable SOPs and other quality documents.
- Training for changing roles within and between functional units.
- Training resulting from an analysis of needs including the results of audits and regulatory inspections, top management reviews and employee appraisals among several other factors
- Job holder will ensure that system is put in place to:
- Share audit and regulatory inspection findings and learning with the relevant functional units and top management.
- Promote auditing-in-tandem.
- Track, coordinate and document all internal and external audits, customer audits and regulatory inspections reports.
- Track and document status of findings (open, closed or pending) made during audits and regulatory inspections.
Reporting
- Ensure that all functional unit heads and affiliates are kept up-to-date with various established and emerging local, national, regional and international legal, ethical and regulatory standards
- Ensure the records of the laboratory environmental conditions are maintained
- Ensure that all client’s report/results are verified okay and error free
- Ensure that client’s report in-process verified and certify within 24 hours of receiving such reports
Mechanism
- Must have a very good and sound knowledge of Gas Chromatograph (GC), Gas Chromatograph Mass Spectrometer (GCMS), Atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), Autoclave and all other
- Supervise the internal quality control programs for the laboratory test results
- Must review all results generated by the analyst and pass to the Head Lab.
- Ensure all results are error free. Ensure all the required parameters are being analyzed and reported.
