Position Purpose 

The role of the Disability Support Worker is to provide support to participants that is flexible and individualised and to facilitate participant involvement in daily activities and living skills programs across all services.

Essential: Compliance Documents

  1. Certificate III or IV or above in Disability or Aged Care
  2. NDIS Worker Screening Check 
  3. 100 points of ID (Citizenship/Passport/Driver License/Visa & Granted Form, Medicare Card or government Issued Document)
  4. Police Clearance
  5. First Aid + CPR
  6. Manual Handling
  7. Medication certificate
  8. Car Rego
  9. Car Insurance Comprehensive
  10. Covid-19 Vaccinations 3 dose 
  11. MUST BE AVAILABLE AT LEAST 5 DAYS-FULL TIME

Compulsory FREE Online Training

  1. FREE TRAINING Proof of completion of the 
  • New worker NDIS induction module
  • Worker Orientation Module
  • Supporting effective communication
  • Supporting safe and enjoyable Meals 

      2. Covid 19 FREE Training by GAVAL

  •       Covid 19 Infection Control Training FREE
  •       Personal protective equipment training

Desirable

  • An understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
  • Experience working as a disability support worker, preferrable
  • Computer literate

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Assisting participants to perform important daily activities and home based tasks.
  • Provide short-term focused interventions, psycho-education, and mentoring.
  • Facilitating daily personal hygiene and care tasks.
  • Assisting with coordinating and facilitating community access.
  • Providing emotional support and encouragement.
  • Facilitating participant communication and enhancing their choice and decision-making processes.
  • Implementing and monitoring Behaviour Management Strategies as required.
  • Goal Planning and tracking 
  • Empowering participants with learning, skill development and employment.
  • Transporting participants to medical and other appointments, and social activities as required
  • Upholding the rights, independence and dignity of all participants, ensuring confidentiality and their choices are recognised at all times.
