We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Optometry Technician to join our team at Family Eyecare at Westchase. As an Optometry Technician, you will play a crucial role in assisting the Optometrist in providing exceptional eye care services to our patients. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting preliminary eye exams, performing diagnostic tests, and assisting with various administrative tasks. Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Optometrist in conducting preliminary eye exams, including measuring visual acuity, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
  • Perform diagnostic tests such as pachymetry, topography, and visual fields.
  • Prepare patients for eye exams by explaining procedures and answering any questions they may have.
  • Assist with contact lens fittings, including instructing patients on proper insertion, removal, and care of contact lenses.
  • Administer eye drops or medications as directed by the Optometrist.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including medical history, test results, and treatment plans.
  • Order and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with various administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and verifying insurance information.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sterilization of equipment and examination rooms.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working in an optometry or ophthalmology setting preferred. 
  • Strong knowledge of optometry terminology, procedures, and equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with patients of all ages.
  • Detail-oriented and able to accurately record and maintain patient information.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in using computer systems and electronic health records.
