Responsibilities:

• Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
• Mentor and support the professional development of team members, including conducting performance reviews, identifying training needs, and facilitating career growth opportunities.
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, encouraging open communication, teamwork, and a positive work culture.
• Allocate resources effectively, including assigning team members to projects based on their skills, experience, and career aspirations.
• Interface with other departments, stakeholders, and clients to gather requirements, provide project updates, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Implement and maintain engineering best practices, processes, and tools to improve efficiency, quality, and scalability of product development.
• Lead the technical design and architecture decisions, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with the company’s technology roadmap.
• Investigate and adopt new technologies and methodologies that can improve team performance and product quality, while also managing the technical debt and legacy system challenges.

Skills Required:

Education: An Engineering Team Lead shall hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, with majors often in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering. Coursework in one of engineering disciplines is essential. Desirable: classes fostering critical thinking, team management, and communication skills to effectively lead diverse engineering projects.

Experience: Ideal candidate has progressed through various roles, accumulating a wealth of experience in managing teams, spearheading complex engineering tasks, and driving innovation. On-the-job training, mentorship, and participation in advanced training programs are essential components of their journey. Experience shall span across multiple engineering disciplines, emphasizing problem-solving, project management, and effective communication skills.

Certifications & Licenses: Professional Engineer (PE) license is desirable. Additionally, leadership or project management certifications, such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), can be advantageous.

Cross-Disciplinary Coordination: Orchestrating collaboration among software engineers, quality assurance testers, and product managers, an Engineering Team Lead ensures project milestones are achieved with precision. The role requires clear communication of complex technical concepts to professionals from various disciplines, promoting a cohesive and productive work environment.

Agile Project Management: Coordinating and adapting to changing project scopes and timelines, Engineering Team Leads guide their teams through iterative development cycles. They balance technical requirements with team dynamics to deliver projects on time, maintaining high standards of innovation and quality.

Technical Specification Development: Engineering Team Leads create detailed, actionable plans that outline project requirements, milestones, and technical standards. This skill is crucial for translating complex project goals into executable tasks, enhancing collaboration and efficiency across engineering teams.
