Role Overview
The O&M Manager will be responsible for all aspects of solar plant upkeep — preventive and corrective maintenance, performance monitoring, safety compliance, contractor management, and ensuring each site consistently delivers optimal generation. This role is a blend of technical expertise, on-ground leadership, and operational discipline.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plant Operations & Performance
Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly generation data across sites.
Identify and troubleshoot performance dips, equipment failures, and grid-related issues.
Ensure plants operate at targeted CUF levels and meet PPA obligations.
2. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
Create and implement preventive maintenance schedules (modules, inverters, transformers, HT yard, etc.).
Ensure timely corrective action for faults, outages, or breakdowns.
Maintain logs and documentation of all maintenance activities.
3. Vendor & Contractor Management
Manage site technicians, security teams, grass-cutting vendors, and cleaning crews.
Coordinate with inverter OEMs and other third-party service providers.
Verify vendor work quality and certify bills.
4. Safety & Compliance
Ensure adherence to electrical safety standards, statutory compliances, and company protocols.
Conduct regular safety drills and toolbox talks.
Maintain documentation required for DISCOM, SLDC, and regulatory audits.
5. Inventory & Spares Management
Track availability of spare parts and critical components.
Maintain stock levels and raise purchase requests when needed.
6. Reporting & Documentation
Prepare weekly and monthly O&M reports.
Maintain performance dashboards and incident logs.
Report key plant KPIs to management.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Diploma or B.Tech in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
3–7 years of experience in solar plant O&M (utility-scale preferred).
Strong understanding of inverters, transformers, HT/LT switchgear, SCADA systems.
Hands-on experience with troubleshooting and field operations.
Good communication skills and ability to manage vendors.
Working knowledge of safety standards and compliance protocols.
Willingness to travel to multiple project sites.
Nice-to-Have
Experience with open-access solar projects.
Familiarity with remote monitoring systems (SCADA/SOLAR RMS).
Knowledge of predictive maintenance tools and techniques.
