Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Caretaker/Maintenance Technician to join our team at Discovery Care Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall upkeep of the care home facility. This role is crucial in ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for our residents, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Facility Maintenance:
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on building systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and safety systems.
Repair and maintain indoor and outdoor facilities, including painting, carpentry, and minor electrical work.
Address and resolve maintenance issues promptly to ensure a safe and functional environment.
Safety Compliance:
Conduct regular checks of safety equipment, such as fire alarms, extinguishers, and emergency lighting.
Ensure that the facility complies with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
Assist with emergency procedures, including fire drills and evacuation plans.
Groundskeeping:
Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of outdoor areas, including lawns, gardens, walkways, and parking lots.
Remove snow, leaves, and other debris from walkways and entrances.
Coordinate and oversee the work of outside contractors for major repairs or landscaping projects.
Resident Support:
Assist residents with minor repairs and adjustments within their living spaces.
Respond to residents’ maintenance requests in a timely and respectful manner.
Foster positive relationships with residents, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
Monitor and document utility usage, reporting any unusual activity.
Keep inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, ordering replacements as needed.
Qualifications:
Basic DIY skills and in-depth understanding of maintenance procedures
Problem solving skills for addressing safety and maintenance concerns
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Organisation, multi-tasking and scheduling skills
Working Conditions:
Must be able to work flexible hours, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
The role may involve exposure to hazardous materials, loud noises, and varying weather conditions.
Must be able to respond to emergency maintenance requests on short notice.
