Healthcare Management Intern (Remote)

Please note that this position is an unpaid remote role for six months, requires a commitment of 20 hours per week, and is eligible for college credit.

About This Role:

The Healthcare Management Intern is responsible for leading operational excellence with the virtual medical practice. This individual will be directly mentored by the CEO and will execute day-to-day administrative tasks assigned. The ideal candidate will be a graduate student or recent graduate in public health, healthcare administration, healthcare management, social work, or communication with a keen interest in healthcare and technology. Must be a great communicator, self-motivated, organized, and goal-oriented.

 

Position:

  • Oversee the daily operations of a virtual medical office, ensuring efficient and effective workflow.
  • Manage and assist in office staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations of administrative and clinical staff.
  • Manage and assist in credentialing clinical providers with federal and commercial payers.
  • Develop and implement office policies and procedures to maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Monitor and manage the office budget, including financial planning and expense control.
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers to schedule patient appointments and manage patient flow.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using electronic medical record systems such as eClinical Works .
  • Handle patient inquiries, complaints, and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Collaborate with insurance companies to verify coverage and process claims.
  • Ensure the office is stocked with necessary supplies and equipment for smooth operations.

 

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in public health, healthcare administration, healthcare management, social work, or communication or a related field is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of medical administrative support functions and procedures.
  • Proficient in practice management software such as eClinical Works.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage a team.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of budgeting principles and financial management in a medical setting.
