Job Description 

The Clinovator’s Medical Assistant role will supervise, lead, and perform support work in connection with the care and treatment given to patients within our clinics. The ideal candidate will maintain a fundamental responsibility to effectively use all available resources to provide the best possible patient care to our Veterans. In our clinic you will serve in a role with dual functionality, serving both internal and external stakeholders by providing advanced service delivery.  

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Serve as an informative VA resource to our Veterans when they have questions, concerns, or need assistance regarding VA services or processes 

  • Maintain accurate patient medical records by verifying and updating patient demographic information, ensuring correct third-party insurance is on file if any, and provide appropriate Clinovators paperwork as needed 

  • Answer telephone calls into the clinic with exceptional customer service and a smile; tasking patient message to appropriate PACT Care Team for clinical follow-up or to appropriate team member if designated Clinovators Vendor or VA personnel 

  • Oversee and manage clinic schedules through the following: setting appointments, cancellations, reschedules, managing missed/no show appointments, confirmation appointment reminder calls 

  • General knowledge of medical equipment and standard office technology such as faxing, coping, scanning, postage machine, phone system, time management system, and electronic health record 

  • Maintain confidentiality of exposure to sensitive HIPAA information 

  • Maintain knowledge and put into practice OSHA Safety, OIG, and JCAHO Standards and Guidelines to include but not limited to Emergency Action Plan, Exposure Control Plan, EOC Walkthroughs, or JCAHO audits 

  • Assist in ensuring the clinic is fully stocked with office supplies for efficient clinical workflow daily 

  • Participate in delegated tasks assigned by Clinic Nurse Manager as needed 

  • Attend monthly staff meetings as well as participate in daily morning and afternoon huddles 

  • Attend the required VA MAS scheduling and CPRS training 

  • Assist in ensuring the clinic meets all required VA metric standards by implementing all Standard Operating Procedures and Company policies 

  • Dependable and consistent attendance and accurate record of time keeping daily for payroll 

  • Complete the required VA TMS Training courses: Rules of Behavior and Privacy & HIPAA; complete these trainings annually or as often as required by Clinovators 

  • Cover lab as a phlebotomist in a rotation schedule or as deemed by Clinic Nurse Manager 

  • Support the back clinical staff and providers, as needed, with patient care as deemed appropriate by the Center Medical Director and Clinic Nurse Manager 

  • Promote a positive culture setting within the work environment and amongst other team members consistently 

  • Use practical knowledge of patient treatment, standard procedures, medical records, and medical terminology to support the clinic in delivering the best patient care 

 

Knowledge & Skills 

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally (in person, electronically, and/or by telephone), with internal and external customers 

  • Advanced knowledge of medical terminology specific to understanding medical diagnosis and procedures  

  • Ability to schedule medical appointments and use computer systems in a clinical setting. 

  • Ability to work independently in the accomplishment of a wide variety of duties performing patient support work. 

  • Veteran or VA patient care experience highly preferred 

  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English; fluent Spanish is a plus 

  • Must have knowledge of and familiarity with Microsoft Office and G-Suite Products 

  • CPRS (EMR) and Vista Scheduling System experience is a plus 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Medical Assistant Certification Required 

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job
