English – Myanmar – English (EME) Translator Role Purpose

Interprets written or spoken material from English into Myanmar and vice versa, ensures meaning and context are maintained, creates glossaries or term dictionaries, possesses near perfect knowledge of both English and Myanmar languages.

Translator Job Duties

• Reads through or listens to material in English, ascertains understanding of the meaning and context of that material, and translates it into the Myanmar
language, making sure to preserve the original context and meaning
• Translates online, video, and television media by providing subtitles or scripts for voiceover
• Consults with subject matter experts and other colleagues in order to understand specialised concepts and translate them appropriately
• Refers to online translation tools for additional assistance with translation
• Provides stakeholders / management with timelines based on project length and level of complexity
• Follows up with stakeholders to ensure satisfaction and understanding
• Uses highly specialised translation software to encourage efficiency and consistency in particular XLIFF tools
• Adheres to quality standards established by the iiM to ensure that all completed work follows legal and ethical obligations
• Translates a variety of documents including literary, legal, research, technical, scientific, educational, and commercial materials
• Preference will be given to those with skills in the Financial Services sector

Translator Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience,
• Fluency, in English and Myanmar Languages, preferably native speakers
• Written and Verbal Communication,
• Understanding of Grammar,
• Knowledge of Insurance or Banking sector,
• Interpersonal Communication,
• Accuracy,
• Attention to Detail,
• Software Proficiency using an XLIFF software tool,
• Motivated to be the best,
• Ability to Meet Deadlines,
• Ability to Work Under Pressure
