Job Title: Stay-In Camp Manager

About the Role

Camp Cosmos is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Stay-In Camp Manager to lead and oversee the smooth operation of our residential education camps. This pivotal role combines leadership, organisation, and hands-on management to ensure an enriching and safe environment for all participants.

As Stay-In Camp Manager, you will be at the heart of delivering exceptional educational experiences, coordinating staff, and managing day-to-day camp activities. Key Objectives

  • Ensure the safe and effective running of the residential camp throughout its duration.
  • Lead, support, and manage camp staff and volunteers to deliver high-quality educational and recreational programmes.
  • Maintain excellent standards of welfare, health, and safety for all campers and staff.
  • Oversee logistics including accommodation, meals, and activity scheduling to create a seamless camp experience.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for campers, parents, and external stakeholders during the camp period.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the camp’s daily operations, ensuring smooth coordination between departments.
  • Supervise and motivate a diverse team of educators, activity leaders, and support staff.
  • Implement and monitor health and safety policies, conducting regular risk assessments.
  • Handle any emergencies or incidents promptly and effectively, maintaining clear communication with senior management.
  • Coordinate arrival and departure logistics, including registration and orientation sessions.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to attendance, incidents, and staff performance.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment that supports learning and personal growth.
  • Collaborate with the Education Management team to align camp activities with educational goals.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in camp management, residential education, or a related leadership role.
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead a diverse team.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and capacity to remain calm under pressure.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices and health & safety regulations within an educational or camp setting.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Flexibility to stay on-site for the duration of the camp and work irregular hours as required.
  • Valid first aid qualification or willingness to obtain one prior to camp commencement.

Qualifications

  • A relevant qualification in Education, Youth Work, Outdoor Leadership, or Camp Management is desirable.
  • Experience working with children and young people in residential settings.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience within an education or youth-focused environment.
