Atlantis University is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll Specialist to join our Financial Services team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintaining employee satisfaction through precise compensation management.

Key Objectives

  • Manage and execute end-to-end payroll processing for all employees in compliance with company policies and government regulations.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure seamless payroll operations.
  • Support payroll reporting and audits to uphold data integrity and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly and monthly payroll cycles accurately and on schedule.
  • Calculate wages, benefits, deductions, taxes, and other payroll-related items.
  • Maintain payroll databases, records, and reports ensuring confidentiality and security of employee information.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
  • Respond promptly to employee payroll inquiries and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Coordinate with HR to update payroll information related to new hires, terminations, salary changes, and leave of absence.
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax payments and reports.
  • Assist in year-end payroll activities including W-2 and 1099 processing.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and implement best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in payroll processing, preferably within the financial services or education sector.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
