Position: Accountant
Location: Martin Place Sydney, NSW 2000
Job type: Full-time, onsite / 37.5 hours per week
Salary range: $75,000-AUD $85,000 per year exclusive of superannuation

Responsibilities:
We are looking for a Accountant and the responsibilities will be:
Work independently to, after an initial phase in period, communicate with clients regarding routine compliance matters – e.g. seek information to prepare Activity Statements and income tax returns.
Be able to produce accurate financial statements using a number of different accounting packages including MYOB AO, MYOB AccountRight, Xero
Navigate around our MYOB AO data base, accounting, depreciation & tax software.
Accurately record time spent on jobs by directly entering time spent into our timesheet system.
Prepare covering letters and emails sending to clients such things as tax returns, Notices of Assessments, IAS’s, BAS’s.
Navigate the Tax Agents’ ATO portal to obtain important tax information, lodge Activity Statements
Prepare and record excel spreadsheets on behalf of our clients
Reconcile GST asset and liability accounts
Prepare and collate “working papers” in readiness for partners’ or manager’s review.
Prepare income tax returns for an individual, trust, partnership and company
Be able to draft tax invoices for work done for a client.
Have sufficient tax knowledge to assist more junior staff and give phone advice to clients and prepare written advice for them, on most tax and compliance issues.
Be able to work with payroll software and understand and advise on, employer payroll obligations.
Skills Required:
The requirements of the candidate are as follows:
A graduate of Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, Commerce, or any tertiary education within the field or industry course is highly desirable and will be prioritised, should they apply.
Completed University studies with a degree in commerce, accounting or business
2+ years post degree experience in audit, preferable in professional practice
Excellent technical skills and knowledge
Sound broad soft skills experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Competency with Practice Management (eg. APS) and familiarity with Commercial Accounting Software (eg. Caseware, Xero, MYOB, Quickbooks)
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

The job will be full time, with hours to be worked between 8.30 am and 5.00 pm Monday to Friday.
