Job Brief: 

Position: Mechanical Engineering Technician 
Location: Cudal, New South Wales (Any location changes, which may occur from time to time, will be in consultation with you, but will be at the sole discretion of the Company. 
Job type: Full-time, onsite / 38 hours per week Monday to Friday
Salary range: AUD125,000 annual salary + superannuation

The position will involve the maintenance and repairs of Robodrill underground tunnelling jumbos. The applicant will need experience with these machines and be able to fault find and repair the mechanical, hydraulic and electrical sub systems on the machines. The applicant will be required to work independently in a small operations team, organising service calls, repairs, parts and deliveries of the equipment. There will be a lot of times when you are required to travel interstate to operational sites for deliveries and repairs on the equipment.

Responsibilities:

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Technician and the responsibilities will be:

  • Prepare and update technical documentation, service reports, and maintenance records.
  • Provide feedback on equipment performance and recommend potential modifications or improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.
  • Organize and manage the logistics of parts, tools, and service schedules to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on Robodrill underground tunnelling jumbos, ensuring optimal functionality.
  • Coordinate parts procurement, estimate required materials, and ensure necessary tools and components are available for repairs and maintenance.
  • Perform field and workshop testing to verify the reliability and performance of machinery.
  • Identify and troubleshoot faults in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical sub-systems, implementing effective repairs based on diagnostic results.
  • Conduct routine servicing, inspections, and component replacements to prevent equipment downtime.
  • Work independently within a small operations team, coordinating service calls and repairs.
  • Maintain compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and company procedures.
  • Travel interstate to operational sites for on-site repairs, servicing, and equipment deliveries as required


Skills Required:

The requirements of the candidate are as follows

  • Strong ability to diagnose and troubleshoot faults in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical sub-systems.
  • Capability to work independently within a small operations team.
  • Experience in organising service calls, repairs, parts procurement, and equipment deliveries.
  • Willingness to travel interstate frequently for on-site equipment deliveries and repairs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to equipment maintenance.
  • Commitment to workplace safety standards and industry regulations.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate within a small team.
  • Ability to maintain accurate service reports and technical documentation.
  • Conversational French skills would be an advantage.
