Job Brief:
Position: Instrument Calibration Technician
Location: Welshpool, WA

Job type: Full Time, 38 hours/week
Salary range: AUD 76,515 - 80,000

The Instrument Calibration Technician is responsible for the inspection, testing, calibration, maintenance, and documentation of measuring and control instruments used in production, laboratory, manufacturing, or industrial environments. This role ensures that all instruments operate accurately and comply with company standards, quality systems, and regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform calibration, adjustment, and verification of instruments and measurement equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain instrumentation systems and devices.
  • Maintain accurate calibration records and documentation in accordance with quality procedures.
  • Ensure all equipment complies with applicable standards such as AS, ISO, NATA, or internal quality systems.
  • Schedule and manage preventive calibration activities.
  • Identify out-of-tolerance conditions and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist with audits and provide calibration documentation when required.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and calibration procedures.
  • Use calibration software, testing equipment, and diagnostic tools effectively.
  • Support Administration and Sales with instrument-related issues.
  • Ensure safe work practices are followed at all times.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Certificate III/IV, Diploma, or trade qualification in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in instrument calibration, industrial maintenance, or laboratory environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with calibration standards and quality systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good eyesight.
  • Computer literacy and experience with calibration management systems desirable.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of pressure, temperature, flow, level, electrical, and analytical instrumentation.
  • Ability to use multimeters, pressure calibrators, loop calibrators, and other testing equipment.
  • Understanding of measurement uncertainty and traceability principles.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

Working Conditions

  • Work may be performed in laboratories, workshops, manufacturing facilities, or field environments.
  • Some lifting, standing, and site travel may be required.
  • Occasional overtime or on-call work may be necessary.
