Position: Instrument Calibration Technician
Location: Welshpool, WA

Job type: Full Time, 38 hours/week
Salary range: AUD 76,515

An Instrument Calibration Technician is responsible for testing, calibrating, maintaining, and repairing instruments and equipment to ensure accuracy, compliance, and reliable performance.


Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the preparation of specimens and materials for laboratory experiments, including chemical mixing and sample processing
  • Gathering samples, data, and relevant information for scientific testing and research activities
  • Carrying out laboratory and field-based testing, experiments, and analytical procedures
  • Documenting and presenting findings through written reports, charts, diagrams, maps, and graphical presentations
  • Performing standard mathematical and measurement calculations related to laboratory work
  • Managing laboratory inventory by monitoring usage and ensuring the quality of supplies and materials
  • Inspecting, calibrating, and maintaining laboratory instruments and testing equipment
  • Supporting the assembly, installation, and modification of equipment to meet operational and safety standards
  • Assisting in the preparation and coordination of science experiments and classroom demonstrations

Skills Required:

  • Relevant qualification in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in calibration, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instruments and equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and specifications
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prepare technical reports and maintain accurate records
  • Knowledge of quality assurance procedures and workplace health and safety standards
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with calibration or testing software
  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently or within a team
  • Ability to manage testing equipment, conduct measurements, and ensure compliance with operational standards

Licensing / Requirements:

  • Relevant Australian trade qualification or equivalent experience may be required
  • White Card may be required for site-based work
  • Electrical licence or restricted electrical licence may be required depending on the role and state requirements
  • Knowledge of Australian standards and compliance requirements is advantageous
