And we are looking to Disability Support Workers for will help us to achieve our Vision and Mission by caring for the most vulnerable in our society who have been entrusted to us.
This is a Full Time position (38-40 hrs/week) in a Permanent Role, working in Sydney NSW.
Salary Range: AUD 79,500 to 85,000 (excluding superannuation)
Responsibilities:
1. Personal Care Support
- Assist with daily personal care activities such as showering, dressing, grooming, toileting.
- Support mobility and transferring (e.g., bed to chair).
- Provide assistance with eating and drinking.
2. Community Participation & Social Support
- Accompany participants to appointments, shopping, social outings, recreational or cultural events.
- Facilitate engagement in day programs or volunteering opportunities.
- Encourage community participation to reduce social isolation.
3. Domestic Assistance
- Assist with household tasks including cleaning, vacuuming, laundry, dishes.
- Prepare meals and assist with basic cooking.
- Organise groceries and household supplies.
4. Transport Assistance
- Provide transport or travel training for community access, education, employment.
- Support attendance at medical or therapy appointments.
- Assist with participation in social and recreational activities.
5. Capacity Building
- Encourage independence by teaching or supporting daily living skills (e.g., budgeting, cooking).
- Assist with communication and decision-making.
- Support goal-setting and progress monitoring under the participant’s NDIS plan.
6. Behavioural Support
- Follow behaviour support plans as applicable.
- Use positive behaviour support strategies in line with training and policies.
- Respond appropriately to behaviours of concern.
7. Health & Medication Support (If trained and authorised)
- Support participants to take prescribed medications under supervision or prompts.
- Accompany participants to medical and allied health appointments.
- Monitor and report changes in physical or mental health.
8. Record Keeping and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and timely progress notes, incident reports, and timesheets.
- Communicate effectively with coordinators, case managers, and supervisors.
9. Compliance and Safety
- Adhere to all relevant policies including Workplace Health & Safety (WHS), manual handling, infection control, and privacy.
- Maintain participant dignity and confidentiality at all times.
10. Mandatory Reporting and Safeguarding
- Recognise and report any suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation in line with organisational policies and legislative requirements.
Skills Required:
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, or Community Services.
- Understanding of NDIS principles, participant rights, and choice and control.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Current Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Valid police check.
- Valid driver’s licence, reliable vehicle, and CTP insurance.
- COVID-19 vaccinations as per public health orders.
- Completion of NDIS induction, orientation, and mental health training modules.
- Awareness of mandatory reporting obligations and safeguarding principles
- Preferably 2-3 years experience in a similar role supporting people with disability, including personal care and community access
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
