Position: Civil Engineer Drafter
Location: Bundaberg, QLD
Salary Range: 77K - 82K
Job Type: Full Time | 38 hours/week

At McMurtrie Consulting Engineers (MCE), we are industry-leading engineers with regional expertise. We’re big enough to help deliver complex large-scale infrastructure projects – including some of regional Australia’s largest projects – while having the agile mindset of a much smaller company.

We provide a wide range of structural and civil engineering, consulting, management and construction services, as you would expect from an engineering consultancy of our size. But we approach engineering differently to help our clients meet their project budgets and deadlines: we plan flexibility from the start and tailor our services to scale up or scale down as a project evolves. Plus, we’re experts in spotting issues long before they impact our clients‘ programs or budgets, offering innovative design solutions at the planning phase to minimise cost implications long before construction rolls around.

This is an exciting opportunity for an entry level designer/drafter to join a fast paced, growing team. The role entails working alongside experienced designers and learning both drafting and 3d design skills with a view to becoming a civil designer over a number of years. Strong AutoCAD knowledge is a must.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete design/drafting work as directed (including urban development, road and stormwater drainage etc.)
  • Preparation and presentation of plans and documents as well as digital data suitable for client submissions
  • Copying of plans and documents as well as the compilation of reports
  • Interpreting engineering sketches and specifications.
  • Maintaining drawing standards and consistency.
  • Creating technical drawings using AUTOCAD software.
  • Creating design models using 12D software.
  • Adhering to project schedules and deadlines.
  • Conduct Site Inspections.

Experience required:

  • Experience in civil design and drafting, from concept to detailed design
  • Sound knowledge of engineering principles and drafting presentations and standards
  • Strong ability to use AutoCAD, basic understanding of Civil 3d and or 12d modelling software beneficial
  • Good time management skills, ability to multi-task.
  • Attention to detail and pride in one’s work

Qualifications:

  • Preferred a minimum Associate Degree in Civil Engineering and/or equivalent tertiary qualification
  • 3+ years’ experience in Civil Design/Drafting
