We are looking for a Sous Chef.

Responsibilities:

·         Developing menus, estimating food and labor costs, and placing orders for food supplies

·         Overseeing the quality of dishes throughout all stages of preparation and presentation

·         Collaborating with Managers, Dietitians, and kitchen and waiting staff to address food preparation issues

·         Demonstrating cooking techniques and providing guidance on procedures

·         Preparing and cooking meals

·         Explaining and enforcing hygiene standards

·         Potentially selecting and training staff

·         May involve freezing and preserving food items


Skills Required:

Successful applicant must have:

Education and Training: A Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent is typically required. Advanced diplomas in hospitality or culinary arts can be advantageous.

Experience: Previous experience in a kitchen environment, ideally in a similar role. Experience in various cuisines can be an advantage.

Skills: Strong culinary skills, including knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety practices, and presentation standards.

Hygiene Knowledge: Understanding of food hygiene regulations and ability to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.

Knowledge of Food Safety Standards: Understanding of food safety standards and HACCP protocols.

Creativity: Ability to develop and create new recipes and menu items.

Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to effectively work with kitchen staff and front-of-house teams.

Teamwork: Ability to work well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Time Management: Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing menus, dietary requirements, and kitchen demands.

First Aid Certificate: Some employers may require a First Aid certification.
