You're inside a heated pod on a crane attached to a truck that shoots hot liquid on planes to remove ice and snow.
Shifts are 6 hours, starting at 4am shifts [6am and evening as well] and ends around 10p-12am depending on flights. Extremely flexible scheduling.
Required: Drivers License, no Felonies or gun related charges, the ability to drive to DIA in weather, and can pass drug test. Minimum age 18. Must speak English as we must communicate among each other.
FAILED DRUG TEST AND FELONY WILL DISQUALIFY. Even though state and city have different policies on marijuana, this is on federal property and security.
Training is comprised of two 8 hour training classes on weekends at 7a-3p, plan on attending both days consecutively, and 30 hours of paid training where you apply for shifts going forward.
First season is primarily standby for weather events or threat of weather. When it's cold enough for frost or snowing, you can easily get double/ overtime hours.
We are also very flexible with working your schedules and other job.
Job is pretty easy, it can be intimidating at first, but the job is rather simple. Great second job or those with flexible needs unless there's lots of snow and you really like making money, you just never know how Denver weather goes.
If you do a good job, eventually static shifts [shifts even without snow] can be offered, just don't expect it right away.
I've been there 5 years and really love the pace of the work, sometimes the weather changes and we just hang out all day and get paid. I've written a book, do business, and create digital art when I've free time.
